This week I started the 5:2 fasting diet (which I’ll do a post on in a few weeks), and as yesterday was my non-fast day I thought I’d feast in style.
T and I headed to Brixton to find something filthy and naughty to indulge on. We stumbled upon Bukowski in Brixton Village and since Honest Burger had a 1 hour wait we’d thought we’d give it a go.
The restaurant had a real traveling feel to it with the rough décor and old rickety fans, but then you could say that for all the places in Brixton Village.
We started with two delicious frozen margaritas, which came from a huge slushy machine.
For burgers T had ‘The Mother’ and I had ‘The Purist’ with stilton then we ordered a side of triple cooked chips in beef and coleslaw. If you’re going to do a feast day, you should do it properly.
I’d say their burgers were better than the one at Meat Liquor but purely for the fact that it wasn’t too sloppy and didn’t make the bread soggy.
The couple next to us had the grilled pork back ribs in bourbon BBQ sauce and they looked ah-mazing! We had serious food envy.
I can’t say I was a massive fan of the triple cooked chips in beef dripping as they were just a bit much and I would have been perfectly happy with some normal skinny fries.
Overall, I really enjoyed Bukowski as it feels like it’s been a while since I’ve been somewhere where you don’t have to worry about grease dripping down your hands- lady like, I know. It certainly had a relaxed, fun feel to it so I think we’d definitely go again, even if it’s just to try their ribs!
