As much as I love London nothing quite beats heading out to the coast for a few days to breath in some fresh sea air and blow away the cob webs. Last weekend my boyfriend and our friends headed down to Cornwall for a good few days to eat too much seafood and drink far too many gin cocktails. We started our trip in St Ives and stayed at the cute boutique hotel Primrose Valley, which I’d highly recommend if you’re staying in St Ives. It’s walking distance to the beach and all the restaurants, bars and shops you could ask for. They also do an amazing breakfast which is included in the price of the room.

A few of our favourite spots during our few days there were Rum and Crab Shack, which does excellent cocktails and of course seafood, The Firehouse for the most impressive gin collection ever, and the Sloop Inn for a cosy afternoon drink. It goes without saying that whilst by the coast you must stop for fish and chips, but watch out for the seagulls as they’re literally everywhere and enormous!

After a few days of eating as much food as we possibly could we went on a good few mile walk along the coast line, which gave for the most incredible views. If it’s been raining I’d suggest just sticking to the coast line and not venturing into the fields as it gets seriously muddy, which you would have seen if you follow me on snapchat (username gemmalondonlife). I’ve never ventured as far down to Cornwall before but during our stay I fell completely in love with the whole area. Aside from the amazing views this could also have something to do with the fact that there are dogs everywhere! I’d absolutely love to go back to in the summer as it was so stunning in the freezing weather that I can’t even imagine how amazing it would be in the blistering heat. After our few days in St Ives my boyfriend and I then headed solo onto the quaint little village of Mousehole, but I’ll save all of that for the next post as it’s quite exciting!
