I’m sure if you follow me on any type of social media platform you will have seen that I have recently been on an amazing trip to New York. I’ve never been to New York for Fall before and as it’s my all time favourite season it seemed like the perfect for a return trip. For the first part of our trip we stayed in the most beautiful boutique hotel, The Roger, which I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone staying in the city. The hotel is set in the perfect Midtown location, right near the famous Flatiron building and walkable distance to a whole host of restaurants. For me when I stay somewhere it’s the little things that really resonate with me and The Roger had so much attention to detail and out in so much thought to all the little things it just made our stay extra special. For example, in the morning they provide free tea and coffee and take away cups and then between 5-6pm there is free wine, yes, free wine.
As you can tell from the first picture the outside of the hotel was absolutely beautiful and so Instagrammable and this carried all the way through the whole hotel. I feel like the photos really don’t do our room justice but I really loved the decor, there was dark blue velvet covering the bed and chairs, mock croc covering the foot stool and benches and gold detail throughout. We had a a Premier Corner King with a view of the city which was perfect for watching the world go by when you can’t sleep due of jet lag.
Moving on to the rest of the hotel, each evening we stayed in the hotel we started our night in the The Parlour Bar. If you manage to make a trip to The Roger, I’d recommend sitting in the middle window seat as it has a perfect view of the busy street below and perfectly lit for cocktail photos. Again the decor was stunning, carrying the navy blue velvet theme throughout with the addition of marble tables, I genuinely feel like this hotel was made for me.
The last thing I want to mention about The Roger is their breakfast. When it comes to hotel food, I’m usually left felling pretty underwhelmed, but each breakfast we had was so good, with some of the best fresh bagels I’ve ever had. I’d recommend going straight for the smoked salmon, capers, cream cheese and bagels, you won’t regret it!
As I’m sure you’ve picked up by now, I kind of loved The Roger, but as I mentioned at the start for me it really is the little things that I take away from any stay that make it for me. The Roger ticks this box and so much more, so if you’re planning a trip to New York and you’re looking for a boutique to stay in I’d highly recommend bookingThe Roger.
