Making The Most of January

As much as January is somewhat of a depressing month I personally kind of love it as it feels like a blank page and a completely fresh start to do whatever you want. December is such a crazy busy month so I love that there are very few plans in January as lets face it, we all need a bit of a break after Christmas. I always like to use the first few months of the year to do just whatever takes my fancy and really make the most of the quietest month and most depressing for some people.

This weekend was the first free weekend to ourselves since I think October, so we decided to go for a lovely chilled walk in Battersea. Walking around London on the weekend is probably one of my favourite things to do even though it can be quite busy, it’s a different kind of busy to during the week. The weather at the moment has been absolutely freezing, but the cold misty days are so beautiful to photograph. I’ve recently got a new camera, the Olympus Pen and I’ve been absolutely loving playing around with it and it’s sparked my love for photography all over again, so I’ll definitely be using this month to make the most of my new camera.

Another good thing about January is because it’s such a quiet month for most people, it’s such a good time to just plan spontaneous things with friends without having to book in it months in advance. I’ve been doing this with a few of my close friends and it’s so nice to have to wait weeks and weeks to book something in.

The last thing I’ve been doing to take advantage of the quiet weekends is really knuckling down and planning my wedding. We’ve basically done all of the big things but I’ve been spending hours in the evening and the weekend getting lost on Pinterest. I’m trying to figure out how to really translate the romantic and rustic vibe that I have in my head, which is harder than I thought.
